YSR Congress President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy Begins Fast Sunday Aug 25,2013



YSR Congress President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy began an indefinite fast in Chanchalguda Jail on Sunday Aug 25,2013 to protest against the Congress’ “unilateral” decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh without addressing the concerns of the people of Seemandhra region

The fast comes in the light of the Congress’ decision to speed up the process for bifurcation once the ongoing winter session of the Parliament comes to a close

Security beefed up in front of the Central prison at Chanchalguda in Hyderabad on Sunday


Jaganmohan Reddy,MP from Kadapa demanded that the Centre should maintain status quo, if it could not do justice to all the three regions


Prison authorities confirmed that  Jaganmohan Reddy refused to take lunch and dinner since morning, though they had not checked whether he had taken his breakfast

Jaganmohan Reddy did not submit any written communication to the prison authorities about his decision to go on a fast. Jail Superintendent Saidaiah said there was a separate chapter dealing with the hunger strikes in the jail manual and the authorities would take steps accordingly if the same situation continued on Monday too

YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday continued his indefinite fast even as he was shifted from one hospital to another in view of his deteriorating condition.
He was shifted late Friday night to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for better treatment but he refused to end the fast, which entered seventh day on Saturday to protest bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh without justice to all regions
Jaganmohan Reddy, who is in judicial custody in disproportionate assets case, was shifted from Osmania General Hospital to NIMS amid tight security
A team of 8 doctors is monitoring the condition of Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been admitted to emergency block. As the sugar and blood pressure levels have considerably come down and ketone bodies in urine are high, doctors advised him to agree to take intravenous fluids. The doctors have warned that his condition may further deteriorate, if he continued his fast
