Mariah Carey On The Cover of Billboard

Mariah Carey has laid herself bare for Billboard by posing on the cover looking almost makeup free - and definitely pared down - then discussing her release strategy.

Mariah Carey revealed that she will unveil her new album's title, track listing, artwork and music all at once via to-be-announced digital partners, ahead of a physical release

Mariah Carey's last album was 2009's Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel 


Mariah Carey has spent the past 3 years raising Monroe and Morocco, three, with husband Nick Cannon


Maria Carey's Studio Albums are -

1)Maria Carey(1990)
Upon release, the album received generally positive reviews from music critics, the album topped the Billboard 200 staying atop the chart for 11 consecutive weeks.Mariah Carey was certified 9-times Platinum  by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), denoting shipments of over nine million copies in the United States.
Maria Carey won the Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Awards for her Single ''Vision of Love''
2)Emotions(1991)
Upon release, Emotions received generally mixed reviews from contemporary music critics.The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and eventually certified quadruple Plantinum by RIAA, denoting shipments of over four million copies throughout the country, with actual estimated sales standing at 3,584,000 copies.

3)Music Box(1993)
Four singles were released from the album. The first three,'' Dreamlover'',''Hero'' and ''Without You'' , became worldwide chart-topping singles, the latter becoming Carey's highest charting international single of her career.





Maria Carey was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Dreamlover" at the 1994 Grammy Awards and received the same nomination for "Hero" at the 1995 Grammy Awards, although she did not win either time.
Upon its release, Music Box received generally mixed reviews from music critics. The album faced criticism regarding Carey's more mellow and lazy tone in comparison to her older work.Despite some unfavorable reviews, the album became a commercial success, topping the Billboard 200 and becoming Carey's first number-one album in Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The RIAA certified it Diamond, for shipments of 10 million copies across the United States.
Music Box remains Maria Carey's highest seller and one of the Best Selling Albums of all time, with worldwide sales of over 32 million copies

4)Merry Christmas(1994)
The album has sold 5,291,000 copies in the United States as of January 2013 and has been certified 5-times Platinum by RIAA for shipment of 5 million copies in the United States
Merry Christmas has sold over 15 million copies worldwide and is the Best Selling Christmas Album of all time

5)Daydream(1995)
Six singles were released from the album. "Fantasy", the album's lead single, topped the Billboard Hot 100  for 8 weeks, and became the second best-selling single of 1995 in the United States.
The song topped the charts in Australia, Canada and New Zealand and became a top-five hit in Finland, France and the United Kingdom.

''One Sweet Day'',the second single from the album topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 weeks and became the longest running number one single in American history, a record it still holds.
Daydream debuted at number one in over nine different countries, and in the top five in almost every major music market. The album became Carey's second album to be certified 10-times Platinum (diamond) by the RIAA, denoting shipments of over ten million copies in the United States.


6)Butterfly(1997)
Upon release, Butterfly garnered generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics.The album became a commercial success, topping the albums chart in Australia, Canada, Japan and the Netherlands. On the Billboard 200 , it debuted at number one, spending one week atop the chart. It was certified 5-times Platinum by the RIAA
Five Singles were released from the album; two worldwide commercial releases, and three limited promotional singles
"Honey", the record's lead single, topped the charts in the US and Canada, and reached the top-five in New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The album's fifth single, "My All", became a top-ten hit throughout Europe


Butterfly was nominated for three Grammy Awards  at the 40th Annual Ceremony, however not winning any of the nominations

7)Rainbow(1999)
Upon release, Rainbow received mixed to positive reviews from contemporary music critics.The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was her first album in years to not reach number one.
Rainbow was certified triple-Platinum by the RIAA denoting shipments of over three million copies within the United States.
Five singles were released from the album: two worldwide international releases, two promotional releases, and one European single
The album's lead single, "Heartbreaker", featured Jay-Z. The song became Carey's fourteenth chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100, and topped the charts in Canada, New Zealand, and Spain.
" ''Thank God I Found You'' featuring Joe and 98 Degrees was the second single released from the album. The song peaked atop the chart in the US, becoming Carey's fifteenth song to do so

''Crybaby'' - featuring Snoop Dogg

Mariah Carey's cover of Phil collins ''Against All Odds(Take a Look at Me Now)''was released in Europe, topping the charts in Ireland and becoming Carey's second chart topper in the United Kingdom



8)Glitter(2001)
 Glitter is the Soundtrack Album to the Film of the same name and the 8th Studi Album of Mariah Carey
Universally, Glitter was viewed as a critical and commercial failure, leading to the annulment of Carey's unprecedented $100 million five-album contract with Virgin.
The album debuted at number seven on the USBillboard 200 with the lowest-first week sales of Carey's career .Glitter remains one of Carey's lowest selling albums, and has sold over three million copies worldwide


9)Charmbracelet(2002)

Critics gave Charmbracelet mixed reviews.Three singles were released to promote the album -
''Through the Rain''became the most successful, reaching the top ten in Canada, Switzerland, Sweden and Italy and the United Kingdom.
The Charmbracelet World Tour:An Intimate Evening with Mariah Carey, became her most extensive tour to date, spanning 69 shows around the world lasting over 8 months.

10)The Emancipation of Mimi(2005)

Emancipation of Mimi was considered Mariah Carey's "comeback album" by critics and became her highest-selling release in the US in a decade(following the relatively poor critical and commercial reception to her albums Glitter in 2001 and Charmbracelet in 2002)
The album received generally positive reviews; critics billed it as Mariah Carey's best vocal performance in years.The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.It entered in the top five on the albums charts in Argentina, Canada, Denmark, France, and Japan, as well as on the European chart.
The Emancipation of Mimi was the best-selling album of 2005 in the US, and the second-best seller worldwide
Mariah Carey achieved international success with the first two singles from the album. "It's Like That" became one of her highest-charting songs in years, reaching the top twenty in several countries.

''We Belong Together''accumulated 14 weeks at number one in the US, and was later hailed "song of the decade" by Billboard

During the week of September 25, 2005, Maria Carey set another record, becoming the first female to occupy the first two spots atop the Hot 100, as "We Belong Together" remained at number one, and her next single, "Shake It Off" moved into the number two spot
 

 In 2006 Mariah Carey won Best Contemporary R&B Album  for The Emancipation of Mimi, as well as Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for  "We Belong Together"
The Emancipation of Mimi was the best-selling album in the United States in 2005, with nearly five million units sold

The was generally well received by music critics and the album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 463,000 copies; the highest first-week sales of Maria Carey's career.Four singles were in the album
With 6 Number One Albums,Maria Carey is tied with -Britney Spears and Janet Jackson  in the United States for the third most number one albums for a female artist, behind Madonna with seven and Barbara Stresand's  nine chart toppers
''Touch My Body''became Maria Carey's 18th chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100 making her the solo artist with the most number one singles in US History  surpassing the record held by Elvis Presley.


 12)Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel(2009)
Upon its release, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel garnered positive reviews from music critics.
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 selling 168,000 copies in its first week
