Saina Nehwal becomes first Indian woman to attain World No.1 ranking Saturday March 28,2015

 
Saina Nehwal on Saturday March 28,2015 became the first Indian woman player to attain such a rare feat of becoming the World No 1 player after Carolina Marin lost her match to Ratchanok Intanon in the second semi-final of the India Open Super Series badminton tournament at the Siri Fort sports complex in New Delhi

Earlier, Saina Nehwal made her way into the SF's of the tournament without any hurdles and she will remain the World No. 1, irrespective of her result in the semi-final against Yui Hashimoto of Japan.

Saina Nehwal on Saturday reached her maiden women's singles final of the $275,000 India Open Super series by defeating Japan's Yui Hashimoto in straight games 21-15, 21-11 at the Siri Fort Sports Complex  in New Delhi

Saina Nehwal will next take on 2013 winner and former World Champion Ratchanok Intanon in the final on Sunday.
