America's John Isner holds the all-time Grand Slam record of 113 aces served during his famous 70-68 fifth-set victory over Nicolas Mahut in the first round of Wimbledon on June 24,2010

After 11 hours, five minutes, 183 games, 216 aces, 980 points and a fifth set spread over three days, Wimbledon’s longest ever tennis match finally had a winner -John Isne(USA)beat Nicolas Mahut 6-4 3-6 6-7 7-6 70-68

American John Isner and Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, who had already comfortably broken the record for the longest professional tennis match in history, finally ended their mammoth contest after a total of 11 hours and five minutes on this day in 2010.

The 6’9” John Isner, who hit a total of 112 aces during the course of the match – itself a world record – finally prevailed to take the first round tie 6-4 3-6 6-7 7-6 70-68, sending a passing shot by Mahut’s forehand to win the gruelling encounter
