Stalking cases on the rise, but conviction is low

It was the severe backlash from people, political parties and the media, the pushed the Chandigarh police into re-arrested BJP Haryana chief Subhash Barala's son Vikas and his friend, Ashish Kumar, for allegedly stalking Varnika Kundu, the daughter of a senior IAS officer. 

The case once again highlights the point that the number of stalking cases reported to the police have gone up but the conviction rate is still low.
